Thanks for the support! Keep it coming!

Our first victory as the Kensington Community Action Network (CAN) is coming together! We value and appreciate all of the volunteers who have signed up and joined our CAN, as well as all the spouses, partners, siblings, parents, and children who are supporting in various ways in the background. We see you!

Our first full month in operation has moved at a whirlwind pace as we've undertaken preliminary needs assessment, built systems for handling information, refined our procurement and distribution processes, and developed a great partnership, with The Creative CO-Lab. They have been absolutely fantastic in providing administrative support through banking and accounting services, availing their amazing facilities to us, and, on a very cool note, letting us use their laser cutting machine to ramp up our mask making activities!

With your help, we exceeded our fundraising goal of R25,000! 👏👏👏👏

Funds raised: R27,910

Funds spent: R19,459.36

72% was spent on food aid, averaging 50 parcels a week

18% was paid to The Creative Co-Lab for banking and accounting services

10% was paid to a seamstress to make masks which were sold to raise funds

We are going into June with big plans to respond to the needs in our community during the coldest month of the year. We plan to:

🥫 reach more families in need of nutritious food,

🎨 help young children with educational packs to stimulate creativity and learning,

👧 provide girl children with menstrual products,

🧥 spread warmth by collecting blankets and clothing, and

🥬 working towards sustainable solutions for food security, such as food gardens.

In order to achieve these big plans, we call upon our community and supporters to help us raise R40,000 this month!

We extend our deepest gratitude to residents, businesses, and organisations that have helped us thus far! Every contribution counts!

Thank you to the Kensington Ratepayers and Residents Association (KRRA) for its support!
